Japanese Dining - The first production

Introducing the very first real Interior project of mine, Japanese Dining. Concept blend with traditional Japanese Style since the owners were real Japanese. Design boundaries with budget concern and modern but concern with Japanese rules.

This is a 100% Japanese Restaurant which they served the food with traditional Japanese Style. 90% of Japanese customers step into the restaurant. Ingredients were 5-6stars level, imported from Japan. and of course its price, High class level.

Although I was main incharged in this project, but i am not the full designer of this restaurant. However, I had step into my first succeed.I experience the different style in doing restaurant instead of looking the normal cafe or chinese restaurant. Japanese Restaurant is quite a challenging work that I could say.

Shorten my words, lets see the finish product of my first "creativity contribution"...

Shop Front - Not satisfied with the lighting hiding back of the wall. Not obvious enough. But it is still nice at night.

The Cashier Counter - Disappointed with the design outcome. Can't stand out the timber strip.

I am officially an Interior Designer

Wow! Such a long time i abandoned my little bloggie until I have a lot to be update here now.

Firstly, I was successfully graduated since 2months ago. And I also successfully get A grade for my final design subject which was a difficult to achieve the grade. I was also stepped into the sociality more than 3months ago, and now I am officially an Interior Designer.

What's the different between in university and office?

1. I get more sleep, i slept 7-8hours per day!

2. I get more relax and free time!

3. I earned my own money!

4. I spent my own money!

5. I get more bored!

6. I am getting poor!

but, I am still enjoying with my works. A lot of chances for me to learn on, experience with. Appreciate with my job and keep on working hard to succeed my future! (I plan it)

Here would be the last post that related to university, and a real Interior Design work coming soon. I feel proud of myself :$ (sound with joking)

Final- "Glowing in Nature"

I had just completed my degree study, and here to sharing my final year project, Firefly Discovery Centre. After a long time research and explore, I finally came out with a concept of "Glowing in Nature" which I inspired from the flashing light of fireflies. The intention of my final year project not only to cover the issue of fireflies facing extinction, but also the issue from the original site, Kelip-kelip Kampung Kuantan, Kuala Selangor. I had proposed an upgrading design work of the existing site to more fun, interesting place instead of the visitors came in for just viewing the fireflies.

Overall, from the review comments, it is well done. but for me myself, do not satisfied on it. I think I could achieve much more better than what i have now. The reason why, I had been lost and stuck on my design since the 3D stage. The lecturers comment could sometimes made me confuse and don't know what to do for the next step. But luckily, I still managed to complete what the requirement was.

Special thanks to juniors who help a lot, Kah Jun, Carmen, June Yong, Sharmain and Kai Wai. A minor help could let the progress goes smoothly and faster.

Space Planning is “on”

After lost for few weeks for my Firefly Discovery Centre Design,
finally i got the effort to develop more and I am quite satisfied with the planning this time.
By running out of time, I had stuck for few days while I fell asleep for all the time.

The two important spaces, finally I got a story line or concept on it. By doing more and more research on fireflies, there is something really interesting with their flashing light! You would never know that fireflies could produce different shape of flashing light, and each of the flash represented a different signal, meanwhile, it also as a signal to differentiate the sexuality of fireflies! Looks, you could imagine how amazing is a firefly.

Of course, the concept is also inspired from the flexibility of flash light. the space is designed in fluidity and repetitive wise. Repetitive, not only shown in an area, but the whole site. (Below, shown the develop space planning for Learning zone and Merchandise shop. It took me 2days for the planning. Going to develop in 3D wise...

Cantilevers

Learned something from my coursemate on last week tutorial.
How can an archi student don't know what is cantilevers?
(Shame on me.. :$)
Actually I know, but I am not sure is it the cantilevers that i thought of.
I did some research on it as it can be used in my final year project.
I found that, Cantilevers can be interesting!
It is cool that, a structure without column support underneath but only the beam or structural element.

Hardwork towards a successful journey

Hard works never disappointed your dreams.
The only disappointed is the word "Lazy".
A proof of being success is always the best encouragement for me to move-forward.

Today, I experienced the way to success.
The university, gave me an opportunity to proof myself in the future.
SABE Gathering 2011, I just couldn't simply forget it.

Well, I feel glad and surprised today.
I finally got something return for my sacrifices.
The participation in competitions is really really important when I'm still in "student" occupation.
I GOT 4 CERTIFICATES THIS YEAR! 1 OF IT IS UNEXPECTED! I am so proud to write it as big as it could seen it clearly.

APSDA STUDENTS' WORKSHOP 2010
a competition that unexpected to get the chance to Beijing, but still learn something from the workshop. Somehow, it is a great experienced to participate in.

Nippon Paint Young Designer Awards 2010
an individual design competition that I wanted to participate in since year 2, and now I did it. Even though didn't win any prizes from the competition, still, it is a great competition that i ever though. I wish to participate it in 2011 too.

MSID 5belas
a group of UCSI fellows enjoyed in the annual students' competition. However, UCSI rocks the competition. Since I am going to graduate soon, I still wish to have a last chance to get into MSID again! I really love it! of course, with all my fellow friends.

Best Design Awards 2010-an unexpected awards that surprised me up!
Never ever thought I could get this award from SABE! Since the last SABE gathering, I was jealous to see the best students get this awards. I really thought i won't have that chance. But today, the chance came to me! Thanks the lecturers who gave me a lot of supports and encourages. Although this awards came to me for this year, I will still move-forward and move-further. There is still a big lack to achieve my designer dreams! Next target, will be semester 6, my final! Congratulation to myself, and good luck to my future!

The Conclude of MSID 5belas

Sorry for the delay post... It has been few days ago, I wanted to write this story but I am just too lazy to update it.
So, how was it?
Overall, Yeap, I'm happy and enjoy. Although the service and preparation not as good as the one i went before, 13belas, but still we enjoyed it happily more than last time!
And now, I am finally going to post our 1 month production. I am happy with the outcome, because we never did something cool before, eventhought in our own assignment. Show design first? YUP... Here you are.

after to show the design, next come to complaint.

the first thing i really had to complain is about the food! really no systematic! they shouldn't just provide two small table of catering with only one rice, one chicken, one cabbage and one tomato for about 500ppls? OMG.. everyone was fighting for the food!
the second thing, the competition is actually unfair in some perspective. but nvm, at least we did our own job and great job. I just don't know why design should be so directly and i always thought the designers said "think out of the box" but what i saw and knew the fact is, the PROFESSIONAL DESIGNERS "think within the box" . phew...
So the overall conclusion is, we did lose the installation part. but seriously, I dare to say that, the other school work just so so , some of them just copy the designer's piece, or some of that just take down the nature and built and install their things which made me felt "REALLY NO GREEN".. ok.. at least, we did used back some of the materials from the last time project.. It's all over, and I hope there is a chance to join MSID competition again. I really want to join it so much :).. it's fun! UCSI the rockest and the crazinest.... agreed by most of the ppl. haha.. I enjoyed.

Nippon Paint Young Designer Award Ceremony

Attended to the grand award ceremony today! Although my work got no shortlisted this time, but I am glad to say that, I am one of the participant. I am glad to participate in such big competition, which can help myself to get popularity in interior and architecture field. For this year, I have to congratz to our UCSI students, angel, nicholas and daniel. They really did a great job to win the prize back :)... but one bad thing is that, we lack of supporters on the ceremony and two of the winner couldn't attend to the ceremony and get their prizes. How Sad :(. Btw, our school should join in the recycle competition. Looking others' fun and creativity produce, I do really feel unfortunately to our school :(. We should be active than other school. But nvm, I am sure that we can do the best for coming MSID! Sure we can right, UCSI? Didn't take photos during the ceremony, just because of too concerned about the surrounding and people. hahaha.

After the competition, I just realized that, my work just so so compare to other college. They did a lot in the competition while my work is too much practical and too restrict myself! So, I decided to join again next year, since I only have my one last chance before graduate! I hope I can do much more better than now. Same goes to my final semester! I can feel the excitement to go for my final semester! 2more months, here I come ! :)

Progress 1 (installation)

Just did a meeting for the MSID competition last week. Combination of the groups idea, and hence, we came out with the "shelter" idea, which shelter represented "protect", and goes to "umbrella". Requested by the lecturer, we are going to apply mechanism to our installation. The progress until today, we went to search for the materials and planned to get the materials within this week.

There is some inspiration picture, that going to develop into the design. I found these picture are interesting. and, I like the fluidity of the form by wood planks. Such a cool stuff.

I am quite interested of this kind of shape and materials instead of using the wood planks. Together with the lighting effect, it attracted my eye sight to look at the detail. cool.

One-Piece Furniture

One-Piece Furniture is kind of furniture that provide seating and storage. It is actually designed for the main purpose of reading. Its concept is inspired from the Scandinavian Furniture and Technology, which the bend plywood is applied into the furniture. Besides that, the speciality of this piece of furniture is that, the furniture is built in one whole piece of wood without any joining. That is why call "One-Piece" Furniture. Because of the consideration of mass production, the furniture is built by 3 pieces of wood instead of just one piece. Somehow, the form and cutting of each piece is came out from a whole piece of wood.

Advance Proposed Cadbury Office (Green Concept)

I am finally updated my new work here! It's not really a new work, but an improvement work from last semester. It is still the same concept, same space planning of Cadbury Corporate Office. But, this time I had changed some elements and design to the Green and Eco Concept. This is a piece of work to participate in NPYDA competition. However, I just like to share and show my every works to all, and get some feedback.

Corporate office - Cadbury

Fluidity of Movement - Concept inspired from the flexibility of chocolate which in a differ of texture, favorite, appearance, colour and aroma. Organic form is applied in the design to show off the characteristic of the chocolate which could makes people fall in love with it and also enjoy with the delicious of chocolate. The main colour scheme of Purple, White and Brown is applied too in the design which purple represents the house of Cadbury, White represent the purity of the chocolate ingredients and brown is from the chocolate itself. From the floor plan, melt of chocolate is used in the space planning, which the melt starting point at the reception area which it leads to both the private and public space.

Blogging Time

Recently found that, I am not that patient to write a "complete/detail" blog anymore. Once wrote until a certain point, I could be "lazy" to elaborate more and more. So, wassup after my big big review? I got my 10++ hours sleep EVERYDAY and make me become more and more lazy to be awake! Opps... :) Well, after a long long rest, and that is enough for me and there is no more sleep until I finish up my last work. Just got a notice to participate in the NPYDA competition last few days, and the submission date will be on September 15. Still wondering is it good for participate in? Because the coming semester is my FINAL! I couldn't promise so easily that I can join it eventhough is just using back my previous project to participate. So.... thinking.... If I manage to join, I will not back hometown for this semester break and spend my time for upgrading my 3d skill here. However, I did join for the brief just last Friday, the theme was green design. Nowadays issue all about green! Would not care about the theme yet, but the refreshment after the brief was luxury that can't stop my appetite to enjoy the food. The waiters were serving you like you are in the 6stars banquet. Too bad, I just ate few pieces of small cakes because I got a steamboat buffet dinner with my coursemates after that :(. The steamboat that day did not actually satisfy me. I can't feel the spicy as my first time ate that. Next to the boringness Saturday Night. My favourite show, We got married has stop broadcasting since last 2 weeks due to the problems occur in Korea. Thought there is a good news that this week will be resume the show, but there was emergency cancelled for the show again! How sad! 3 weeks I had wait for. Miss yongseo sweet couple! :( When is the show resuming back???.............. Can't wait for it.

posted some of my rendering work. Yet, it's not the final submission :).. it's my final project for this semester, Corporate Office of Cadbury. However, I learned V-ray for this semester, and keep improving my skill now. Not that good yet, but at least i got a nice try.

People used 3days-1week finished out their work, but I used just 12hours!!!! See how lazy and how "cincai" am I? However, there is a reason behind the "cincai" :)... the stupid minor subject, useless and learn nothing.... even though it is counted in final year subject, but I am totally give up !!! At least, I don't get a failed grade.... If there is a B, I will happy enough...
See how cincai is my work below! A lot of mapping problems and lighting! Totally feels bored to do it anymore, I have to concentrate to my design now....

My new baby!

I finally got my new baby last night which I decided to have it very long time ago.
Office(Architecture + Design)

It cost me RM170 with the discount of 15% together, but it's worth. As my principle, I must have my own design book on each semester which helps my project so much. Actually, there is two books that make me like it so much, but it cost too much for me, I have to decide for one only :(. So what's the different for another book? This one I bought, is very nice in space planning, and the other one which i didn't buy, is very creative in ceiling design and furniture. argh... I really wished to get both :(. Anyways, to be rationality, one book is more than enough for me to get my reference. Somehow, I am quite happy to get it and will "hugged" for it today. :)

The most craziest week that I ever had

It was a series of to-do schedule(submission, exam, site visit, and blablabla......) within this week and it had finally done for 70%. My sleeping hours getting less nowadays, and I can feel the tiredness so much. So, how was my crazy week happened?

Firstly, there was exam then came to site visit, the next day was the submission of minor project. I took almost whole night with 3hours sleep per day to do my study and work. HaHa... After the submission at afternoon, I went to Singapore for my research survey and case study with one of my coursemate. Without any sleep, I went for the trip. It took 10hours time to reach Singapore by train and I departed from 10.30pm, arrived on 8.30am. Once reached, we straightly go for our case study place with the panda eyes. We went to 3 places in a day, which are Chinatown Pasar(my coursemate's case study), Marina Barrage and Sentosa Island which are my case studies. So I would like to talk about the Marina Barrage, which was new built and it's really really really nice for me. The place is actually a Water Reservoir in Singapore. The architectural structure of it very interesting by using glass and steel material. So, the first thing that attracted me to go for is the walk path to the roof top garden! It is like a walk from ground level to the 3rd floor roof level. wow.... there is a great grass landscape along the way going up. It can be a football field! >.<... Since the building is still new, so there is no much landscape and facilities yet, but it has a nice view to Marina Bay area from the roof top. Besides, there are people who jogging around the ground floor level to the roof top, and there are also people who picnics there. The second things is that, the sustainable gallery there is quite interesting and most of the facilities are operated by digital. ... ... (I am very lazy to type so much, so.... photos will helped me to talk about it :) )

oh yeah, I am almost forgetting about to say that, it's free for entry! :)

After visited every places, we went back on the same day at night! We got freeze inside the train and cause me couldn't fall into sleep! I got my heavy and tired body back to KL at 6.30am and the later, I still got my class straight forward. There is only one word to be the conclusion of it, "Tired"!

3dsmax Creature

It was my first time to use 3dsmax do a creature with no basic no learning. I feel boring with it is because I am not animation student :(... Wonder why the school want us to learn this with 100% unrelated to interior. However, I just simply done my work at last, and the outcome shows below...(it's suck like kids drawing)

My 1st A design project..... A Hotel Business Centre at KL Hilton, with the concept of dynamic of contrast, style of modernism.... I play with the form, lines, angle, and also colors to bring out the different perspective, contrast....... This is just a 3-4weeks project.... will put more effort on the next! corporate office..... Not a really nice and professional design for the restaurant, but i am learned after the internal and external review! I gained a lot from lecturers and also the external panels! thanks for the comment to my work and the criteria from them make confidence to my work~ appreciate it! The Nightmare from Janda Baik

Finally,

I am back from Janda Baik.

I swear,

I never want to go there anymore!

It's not fun to me,

but i don't know what others think.

The first day,

we do a lot of outdoor activities,

like flying fox, spider web, and so on,

but i did not play any one of that,

what a waste.

Actually,

I should try the flying fox,

since i am scared of high,

i gave up=X.

I do nothing for the activities and just sit to watch!

i found others have their fun on it,

but not me:D~

Came to the night meal,

it was a BBQ that prepare by our own.

At first,

I felt the food was not enough for everyone,

luckily that,

my friend add another dishes just for my group.

The BBQ session is still OK for me.

Me and my mate Ivy were sleeping in the tent at night.

Supposedly,

girls should stay inside the house,

but at last we decided to sleep outside.

This is also my first time to sleep in the tent,

and the next day,

i got my bone pain :(.

There's a cold weather in the midnight and the early morning.

The nightmare was started in the 2nd day!

I am totally hate the jungle trekking session!

Not just me,

and also my friends!

Before we departed,

no one was briefing us to wear long pant,

no one told us that the road is very hard to reach,

and many many things that they did not brief us to let us had a good prepare!

The way of jungle trekking to water fall took about 2hours time to reach,

the road was blocking by lot of brunches with spikes!

Oh Shit!

i was wearing half long pant that day,

and i got cut by the spiky things!

In addition,

i got bite by the leech,

until my socks were full of blood!

Seriously,

this was my first time and last time,

it's totally BAD!

A long long story for the whole activity,

and made me don't want to mention about it anymore.

Ultra-workers over

First and foremost,

I am angry myself that look-so-blur right now!

This is the 2nd time i re-write the blog.

:(

The first one i almost done,

just waiting for the pic upload,

but there is a wrong click and lost my blog :(

Now,

the blog re-start again.

The past few days,

i was just hurry up with my assignments.

I just had my sleep about 1-2hours for these 3days,

and right now i am so damned tired.

I was so blur until I walked, i eat,

also felt faint.

Lets talk about yesterday,

my first time use to do my model-making in half day time,

and it's non-stop working after the presentation board printed out.

After the model,

a very "red and purple" finger was appeared.

(i should took the picture but i didn't)

The palm of my hand is RED!!!

It happened because I used too hard for the cutter.

:(

After the review today,

I skipped my afternoon class,

It's really too tired until I couldn't stand.

Once i back home,

I fainted on my bed and slept like dead,

because I can't hear any sounds,

even the phone rang just beside me,

even the door bell rang,

I really don't know all this happen.

The feeling is like,

almost going to die but suffer on it.

haha...

Really feel hard and tired.

Finally,

I can have my rest for today,

but I still have to complete my model and upgrade the presentation board within this 2 days.

since the Gulliver that I designed is scary,

so i try to designed Glumdalclitch as abnormal look also.

Food Pavilion - Progress 1

Food Pavilion (Ayam Penyet)

Ayam Penyet,

a food from indonesia, Surabaya.

It's a flatten chicken which smashed by a wooden mallet.

The chicken marinated with blended of spices.

It usually served with "tempe" and "tahu".

Ayam penyet,

not only my chosen food for my pavilion,

it's also my favorite food as well.

i tasted this food since 4/5years ago in my hometown.

according to the method of preparing,

i used that as my concept for design.

smashed means break/ into pieces,

so form is like a box been smashed,

and i am trying to create the cracked glass effect in my wall.

i got a slightly changed in my design,

because there's a problem when i did this 3d drawing =X...

and i used about one whole day time,

to come out with the form as below..

At the last minutes before the submission day,

i decided to draw a new piece one.

b'coz that i felt that,

the previous one have a long way to draw and i was lacked of time.

haha!

and finally,

i come out with this work.

i started at 10.00pm,

rest at 3.00am-6.00am,

and then work til now.

i feel lucky that,

i still have my sleep:D~

not a nice drawing,

not a nice rendering,

but still,

i finally DONE!

While tired on my drawing,

well,

i was doing my "hotel california" just now.

And yet,

my progress was so damned slow!

wondering that,

i can submit my work on time or not.

and so,

my drawing,

just like a kid's drawing.

i am totally lost my drawing skill!

still remember that,

when i was 11,

i love art so much,

i had participated for many drawing competition,

and got many awards too.

after i entered in secondary school,

i was lazy,

and lost my confidence to draw anymore.

til now,

my skill never be back.

i wished to join a drawing class.

but ...

my timetable almost full

CHIMERA and the wonderful day

CHIMERA,

A Chimera was a monstrous fire-breathing creature. It is typically seen in zoology that has two or more different populations of genetically distinct cells that organized in different zygote. In addition, the term "chimera" has also come to mean more generally, an impossible or foolish fantasy.
It composed by parts of multiple animals, not humans; but eagle-fronted, snake-behind, bat-in the middle, and snorting out the breath of the terrible flame of bright fire.

Well,

For the U.F.O. Project,

CHIMERA is our(me and my group mate) design,

which is a monster but it looks like dragon.

The project duration is just 3days,

but actually, our design and everything,

we just used one day to complete it.

after all, we feel satisfied with our design and the works.

The day of swimming party was coming,

just this morning,

we had to prepare all.

First of all,

we had a group photograph with our models and boards.

after that,

we were prepared to "fly" our object to the other side of swimming pool.

After all,

i felt that our group was the funniest among all.

cause we used the silly but funny way to fly our thing.

we didn't really "fly" it,

but just take the object swim across the pool.

It let everyone laugh out loud!

and me, myself,

really feel bit shame but funny of myself.

ROFL!

everyone was jumped into the pool at the end,

and having lots of fun inside the swimming pool.

it's sad that i didn't take much photo for today.

just waiting for more photos upload by others.

The Unidentified Flying Object a.k.a UFO

is my 1st project for studio class

well, it's going to be very fun project,

which works with junior.

1stly, lots of FUN but silly idea came out from my minds.

some work some doesn't

what to design?

so far, i am still blank.

guess it,

all of us have to prepare for jumping into the pool!

waiting for lots of FUN things on Thursday!

A Helping Hand to my Coursemate

yeap,

i am just came back from my hometown yesterday afternoon.

had a great day, finally can met with my lovely one:D~

and my room finally had installed an air-conditioner:D~

weehee..... feel fresh of my room:D~

today,

i had no any plan what to do...

early morning, log in my facebook, and my honey (zul) ask me to help for their competition sculpture....

well, of coz i am willing to help her back... coz that she helped me before:D

my 1st to the place, horse racing club... (dunno what it actually called=P)

had a view on every colleges/universities works....

well, many are nice...

and ours is very different from other colleges....

my comment to my friend's group, "good job:D~"
